Fabric responsibly sourced in Los Angeles is made into jeans in San Francisco and hand textured in Nevada City, California. Butterfly blends utility with art to create handmade jeans that celebrate beauty, sensuality, and texture. We guarantee that our jeans represent the signature quality of product that is Made in the United States.

When we look around the world, our eyes and mind put together and define shapes from billions of bits of information. This perspective -- pointillism and pixilation -- inspires our designs. We create subtle and interesting visual surfaces, lofted and tufted textures, and diffusing fabrics to flatter the female shape without being overtly sexy. We Love the Earth
The desire for cheap, mass-produced goods, destructive dyeing practices, and waste water mismanagement have caused the garment industry to become one of the environment’s biggest polluters. At Butterfly Artifact, we are moving away from hand dyeing. We believe in sustainable practices, and do everything we can to minimize harm to our environment. Our latest 2020 collection offers a different kind of “fancy feather” that doesn’t need harmful dyes to stand out. We have included a totally undyed and unbleached WATERWISE natural colored cotton denim option --Brigid.
